Wishing and Waiting February 21, 2009

So much for posting on a regular basis. Starting a blog and trying to finish grad school apps at the same time is not the greatest idea. But, all apps are in and I am in the waiting period. Fingers crossed…

I’m currently taking a math course to brush up on my skills before heading back to school. I’ve spent all day today working on a homework assignment and midterm that is due tomorrow. There is so much I have forgotten, but I am a total nerd and love figuring out how to get the answer.

I feel like the past six months of my life have been consumed with the grad school process…first the test, then the apps and now this class. I hate not knowing what the next year holds and if my decision to quit work and take out loans is a smart one in the middle of a recession. But, I know I can’t deal with the part-time option. This class I am taking is proving that. I’ll just have to wait and see who accepts me first and go from there. Scary.

I have not left the apartment at all today and I really shouldn’t until I finish my work, but I am getting a lil stir-crazy. Perhaps a little retail therapy is in order…

Adventures in online dating January 8, 2009

So for the 4 people that read this blog, sorry I don’t have everything together on the blog yet. It’s coming!

As an effort to “get out there more,” I just eHarmony. I was bored, but luckily their gazillion questions kept me entertained. In the end, they did describe me in an accurate way, so I guess it works. I only had 3 matches and I rejected two because they were over the age of 32 (and quickly adjusted my “preferences”). I did try Match once, but it was really time consuming and nothing good came out of it. I need something to entertain myself now that my grad school apps are mostly in and I am waiting for the results.

It is pricey, $60! But, hopefully I’ll get that back with a dinner or two. Here’s hoping!

Also, need to take more recent photos of myself. In my posted photo, I have long hair. Its not long anymore. Opps. I’ll get one this weekend.Don’t want to be one of those people that looks nothing like their profile.

Am I vain for for putting height as an desirable quality? I am tried of short guys, Boston is full of short guys. I like the Midwestern, hearty, football type. Where are you?

New Year January 3, 2009

They say the best way to keep your resolutions is to announce them publicly, so here we go:

• Run better and faster – races for 2009 still are TBD, but there’s lots of room for improvement
• Improve my culinary skills – I want to make something new in the kitchen every week.
• Save more – I need to make my 2008 and 2009 investments in my IRA and track my spending better,
• Say ‘yes’ to more social invites – I don’t put myself out there enough.
• Invest in learning – If grad school works out this year, great! If not, there are still many things I can still do to improve my intellectual abilities.
• Blog – I read too many awesome blogs and don’t comment, nor do I get my thoughts out there!
• Finally, have faith in fate and don’t stress out about the things beyond my control.

I look forward to getting to know everyone out in blog land better and becoming a part of the blogging community. Happy 2009!
